Rock n' roll quartet Sweet Addiction was formed in August 1997 by the long-time childhood friends Axl, Jacob, Peter and Jonatan. They all came out of the same background and knew what they wanted to create. With an instrumental set-up inspired by the early 70's, the music was created out of their early musical influences, such as KISS, Bad Religion and The Stooges, played with an attitude inspired by The Dead Boys and MC5. In the year of 1998, the four members of Sweet Addiction discovered the raw energy of Scandinavian punkrock albums like 'Apocalypse Dudes', 'Supershitty to the Max', 'Total 13' and 'Soaring with Eagles...' This music became a vital injection for Swedish rockmusic, and it brought Sweet Addiction to a new level. They moved their amplifiers and instruments to a farm outside Gothenburg, where they started to create the perfect climate for the developing of their own sound. Later on, in the year of 2001, they released their first self-financed EP - '5:th Generation Rock'...
In January 2002 Sweet Addiction started the recording of their second release, 'Sweet Addiction wipes out Las Vegas', which contained six brand new pieces. The boys started performing at Swedish clubs and festivals and in the spring of 2002 they went on a smaller tour in the west of Sweden, promoting the release of a new compilation-album. Now, the band started writing new songs which contained a broader spectrum for the lyrics. Social problems and political allegories were mixed with satire and classical rock-clichés. The music, the dynamic and the groove was by time also inspired by late blues music, such as Cream, Led Zeppelin and Jimi Hendrix Experience. During the autumn of 2002 Sweet Addiction was signed to Good Head Records in Gothenburg, and they started the recording for the upcoming split-CD with Gothenburg punks Tomba Leo. 'Tonight's show: Sweet Addiction & Tomba Leo' was released by Good Head in August 2003. The record resulted in more gigs, video-recordings and as a great start of the summer of 2003 Sweet Addiction was supporting brother Wayne Kramer of the legendary MC5 at his only gig in Gothenburg. The circle was completed.
During the spring of 2004 the band went on two minor tours in Sweden and England together with the UK-junkies My Deaf Audio. A couple of months later Sweet Addiction entered Gain Studios in Gothenburg to record the first six pieces of upcoming full-length debut 'Class and Dignity'. After a three months long break during the autumn of 2004, when the band at different places were working on new songs, Sweet Addiction moved their gear to a new hangout in Gothenburg. A couple of months later the recording-session came to an end, and the eleven songs from the album were mastered in Gothenburg. In November 2005 the boys covered for US-veterans Adam West during their tour in Scandinavia, they played the annual festival PopKomm in Berlin and the date of release for 'Class and Dignity' were set to the 14:th of January 2006. The release was followed by a tour through Germany in September the same year. Now, getting head by their new booking- and recordlabel Alleycat Productions (www.alleycat.se), this marks a new era in the history of Sweet Addiction. Let's see if the world is ready...
